Establised in Dubai early 2013 by Bobby, ICP was founded to provide a gateway for companies to access the growth opportunties and capital in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. In particular, financial services and technology companies benefitted immediately from ICP’s  teams’s experience and specialisations.  In three short years, ICP has  funded a number of mid size businesses (debt and equity),  raised significant capital  for a number of funds and produced ROIs in excess of 100% for  its partner companies.

ICP  has an established sales track record with significant experience in achieving substantial market penetration specifically for technology and financial services companies.  On average, within 18 months  most sales cycles are accelerated by 100% resulting in ROIs in excess of 50-100%.

ICP  has extensive experience in building bespoke model portfolio solutions for investment firms and wealth management organizations. We also believe this is the fundamental building block in creating an efficient, low cost corporate pension solution.

Approach

ICPs  approach is always hands-on. We believe our solutions should be valuable in both bull and bear markets.
We follow the medical doctrine when working with clients. Listen to the client’s existing process, diagnose potential issues, recommend and implement solutions and then contunally monitor the effectiveness of the solutions. We understand each client is different and we tailor each solution to ensure that we work towards their  end goals and objectives.

Melissa Cook was appointed to the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa in November, 2014. The PAC-DBIA includes fifteen senior executives, investors, and experts from a broad spectrum of American business. The PAC-DBIA will, through the Secretary of Commerce, advise President Obama on how to expand US corporate and institutional investment activity on the continent.
Ms. Cook has over 25 years of global research experience—including a front-row seat watching the emergence of new economies in Eastern Europe and China. She covered entertainment, broadcasting, housing and building materials, capital goods, and consumer companies as an equity analyst at Drexel Burnham, Prudential Securities, and CLSA/Crédit Agricole. At CLSA, Ms. Cook was the Head of AsiaUSA Strategy, where she analyzed the impact of China’s rise on multinational companies and global markets, as well as China’s strategy for developing new markets. She was a Managing Director and Head of Global Research at Lazard Asset Management.
Ms. Cook has an A.B. degree in History from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She is a CFA charterholder and holds FINRA Series 7, 16, 24, 63, 86, and 87 licenses.

Gary Dugan

Gary is an investment professional with 33 years of experience on both the buy and sell side of the banking businesses. He has managed numerous strongly performing investment and advisory teams in large banks in Europe and more recently in Asia and the Middle East. He has also built businesses from scratch and successfully restructured businesses with strong links in Asia, particularly Singapore where he managed money for the GIC, Hong Kong Jockey Club and Brunei government.
The core of his career was 11 years at JPMorgan where he was Managing Director.  On the sell side Gary worked as strategist at JPMorgan and Baring Securities. On the buy side he worked for asset management firms (e.g. JPMorgan) and private banks (Barclays, Merrill Lynch, and Coutts).
Gary has a reputation for making bold calls on the markets for example he made major bear calls on equity markets in 1987, at the top of the tech boom and the financial crisis in August 2007, and a bull call on equity markets on March 17th 2009.
He also has a high profile with the media regularly appearing in the printed press and on TV. He often speaks at conferences and provides industry thought leadership on a number of macro and investment topics.  In the past he made a presentation to the European Parliament on the outlook for asset markets after the introduction of the euro.

Mark Friedenthal, CFA

Mark has over 20 year asset management career with 11 years in the Middle East spanning a full functional cross section of the investment management industry including Business Head, Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager (Equity, Fixed Income, Fund of Funds, Multimanager), Consultant (Asset Management), Analyst (Equity, Quantitative, Performance, Risk), and Administration. He is an accomplished investment manager with experience in equities, fixed income, fund-of-funds and alternatives, both conventional and Islamic.
He also has hands-on experience in structuring, launching, managing, administering funds/collective investment schemes including SIF & UCITS, and UAE domiciled vehicles. As well as a detailed understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of investment fund structures and the funds industry.

Kenneth Kaniu, CFA

Ken is the Chief Executive Officer, Britam Asset Managers (Kenya) Limited.
His role at the company is to provide leadership in executing the business strategy for the asset management business to ensure that the company maintains market leadership across a broad spectrum.
He has a wealth of asset management experience from various companies including STANLIB Kenya Limited where in his last posting he was the Chief Investment Officer for East Africa responsible for the investment business in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and South Sudan. Prior to STANLIB, Kenneth worked in the Asset Management business at Allianz SE in Munich, Germany where he spent time in the portfolio implementation, investment risk management and Pan European equity research teams. Kenneth also has some banking experience after a brief stint with Commercial Bank of Africa Limited in Kenya.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from USIU-Africa, and an MBA from Strathmore Business. He serves as a Director at the Kenya Bond Market Association and the AIESEC Kenya National Board of Advisors.

Andia Laura Chakava

Currently an independent investment professional with over 14 years experience. Is passionate about facilitating both foreign and intra Africa investment in the continent, increasing financial literacy through investor education and promoting gender lens investing. She is the cofounder of Alpha Africa Asset Managers a fund manager registered in Kenya, Rwanda and Mauritius.
She has also been the Managing Director of Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) responsible for assets under management of USD 1 billion. She was the youngest female Managing director of a non-family business in Kenya in 2008 at age 30 and one of the first female fund managers in the region.
Ms. Chakava is currently a non-executive director of East Africa Educational Publishers – the largest indigenous publishing house in Sub Saharan Africa, a non-executive director of Kenya Women Holding the largest microfinance institution in Africa. She was a winner of ‘Most Influential Women in Africa 2014’ –Category Financial Services by CEO Magazine. She was also recognized as one of the ‘50 People to Watch in Africa ‘ by Africa Report September 2014 issue.
She is the current Kenya Chapter chair of New Faces New Voices a Pan African Network founded by Mama Graca Machel. She is a graduate of York University in Toronto where she obtained an honours degree in Economics and she has a Master of Business Administration degree with merit from Cass Business School London.

Liston Frank Meintjes

Liston Meintjes brings both an academic and a highly experienced practitioner’s approach to asset management. He has a Master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics from UCT and has lectured at the University of Natal and the Graduate School of Business at UCT.
After qualifying as an actuary, he joined the Investments Division at the Old Mutual where he became Manager (Investments Technology) before he left to start Foord & Meintjes, then a small asset manager. He worked in New Zealand, both Auckland and Wellington, before returning to South Africa, to work as Chief Investment Officer, first at Plexus, then Tri-Linear and Metropolitan Asset Managers. He is now Head of Investments at Sasfin Asset Managers. He served on the then JSE-Actuaries index committee, IMASA (that is now part of ASISA) and the Actuarial Society of South Africa sub-committee on Prudential Investment Guidelines.  He has been a Trustee of a retirement fund.
He has been labelled a ‘Deep value’ investor but he considers himself strong on asset allocation based on a combination of fundamentals and valuations.  He is also well known in the industry, for the many presentations he has given, the large number of colleagues he has worked with and interacted with over the years.  He is also well known to the public through regular radio and TV appearances.

Brian James Luck, MBA, ASIP

Brian is an experienced investment manager with strong qualifications and deep GCC experience. He has held senior positions in banks (National Bank of Kuwait, Bank of Tokyo, JP Morgan), investment firms (Asiya Investments, Edinburgh Fund Managers), family offices (The Capital Partnership) and institutional investment institutions (Kuwait Petroleum Corp.) both in the GCC and in the UK. He has practitioner experience of portfolio management, risk management, manager selection (both traditional and alternative), trading, and product development & marketing.
Brian has managed staff, managed investment portfolios and marketed investment products to run and grow businesses across multiple levels of the investment management value chain and in different jurisdictions.  He has designed, set up, and managed several innovative programs to provide alternative income sources to GCC investors where demand is significant but supply remains an area where specialist expertise, leadership and vision are required.
In addition to his institutional work, Brian also has significant experience of working with families in the GCC, setting up and growing their family offices and he continues to serve as an independent director on several fund boards, trusts and investment firms for the families he has worked with. He has also lectured on a number of investment courses including those for the CFA program.

Paul Forsyth

Paul is the Managing Partner of UK based Apache Partners LLP. He has a wealth of experience, extending to over 35 years, in the finance and asset management industry. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of the modern multi-manager industry. Apache Partners LLP has developed the Apache Global Frontiers Fund that focuses on genuine frontier stock markets, drawing on two years of intensive research. It aims to identify the finest fund managers operating in the frontier market space.
Prior to Apache Partners, Paul was the founder of the Forsyth Partners Group that managed assets of almost USD 1.7 billion in multi manager portfolios across all asset classes. Previously, Paul had been MD of Fidelity in Jersey after having spent three years in Fidelity’s London unit. Paul also spent four years at Rothschild in London having earlier qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.
He regularly chairs and presents at investment conferences and has appeared frequently on CNBC, local TV and radio.

He is also the Director and Founder of a Strategy Consulting company, Industry Science Solutions, that provides cutting-edge statistical, mathematical, and computational tools and methodologies for competitive and strategic decision analysis.
Industry Science Solutions is a multifaceted firm, offering a wide range of services to corporate and government agencies where its primary mission is strategy, supporting clients in crucial business decisions using powerful analytical and simulation techniques. In addition, Gareth holds several adjunct professorship positions at various business schools globally and is currently involved in developing entrepreneurial think-tank centres in the US, South Africa and Peru.

Partnership Opportunity

At ICP, we believe in providing our client base with innovative and unique products that address  specific requirements. This could span from helping them manage their market data vendor costs,  to a Financial Instituion looking to put together a white labelled yield offering for its client base.  As a result, together with our Product Partners, we develop, market and service pioneering solutions that improve Return On Investment, while satifying the clients requirements.

Criteria

Technology Product Partners
  1. Established products defined as having at least three established clients with revenue above $1 million.
  2. At least three years in business with enough working capital to drive the business for the next 18 to 24 months.
  3. Seeking expansion into the Middle East, Africa and/or Asia markets.
  4. At least one lynchpin investor with deep pockets.
Fund Product Partners
  1. Established product which is defined as having at least $100 million of assets under management with a  3 years of track record.
  2. Must have a unique offering.  Alternative investments are preferred with yield and  low volatilities. Shariah investments are also highly disreable.
  3. Seeking expansion into the Middle East, Africa and/or Asia markets.
